Comparison
Thonest vs Baremetrics Open Startups
Baremetrics is an analytics product you buy to understand your own business, with a public page as an option. Thonest is the public page — built from the start to be read by someone who does not work at your company.
What Baremetrics Open Startups is
Baremetrics is a subscription analytics platform. Open Startups is its opt-in feature that makes your dashboard public — MRR, ARR, churn, LTV and customer counts, updating live from your payment processor.
| Baremetrics Open Startups | Thonest | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A subscription analytics platform, with an optional public dashboard | A verified revenue timeline built to be shown to other people |
| Who the page is designed for | You and your team. The public view is the same dashboard, opened up | Your customer, investor or candidate, who has thirty seconds and no context |
| What it shows | MRR, ARR, churn, LTV and customer counts — a full metrics suite | Revenue history and the decisions behind it, each with the numbers from either side |
| Explains why the numbers moved | No. The chart is the whole story | Yes. That is the entire point of it |
| Goes on your own site | Links out to a hosted public dashboard | One line of code puts it on your own domain |
| Price | Part of a paid analytics subscription | Free. $79/month only if you run more than one business |
When Baremetrics Open Startups is the better choice
- You need real analytics. Churn, LTV, cohorts, expansion revenue, forecasting — Baremetrics is a serious product for running a business, and Thonest does none of that.
- You already pay for it. If Baremetrics is in your stack, the public page costs nothing extra and is a click away.
- You want every metric public, not only revenue and the story around it.
When Thonest is the better choice
- You want proof, not a dashboard. A wall of metrics is something a founder reads. A timeline with five decisions on it is something a prospect reads.
- You want it on your own site rather than a link to a hosted page somewhere else.
- You want the context. A chart shows revenue tripled. It does not show that you repriced in March, or what the ninety days after that looked like.
- You are not in the market for analytics. Paying for a full metrics platform to get one public page is an expensive way to publish a number.
The short version
Baremetrics is the better analytics product, and it is not close — it is built for that and Thonest is not. But an open dashboard is a tool for transparency and a timeline is a tool for persuasion. If the reason you want your revenue public is that prospects do not believe you, those are different jobs.
